This thing is great. Obviously he spent time making it, it’s a perfect example of the “Learn by Doing” philosophy that Cal Poly so loudly boasts. And when that philosophy is brought to life, it is just as suddenly dragged back down again. Shame on you UPD/SLOPD. Is it really worth ticketing him for? Couldn’t you just say “stay on the sidewalk?” Was it worth your time to stop and fill out the paperwork to ticket him?

Awesome job Rashed. I say fight the ticket, because more than likely, if the judge has half a brain, they will throw it out. Great work on it, and the iPod/speakers are a brilliant touch.

High five to Rashed and another high five to yessir for also seeing the misplaced/dangling modifier. Rashed, don’t worry about it getting impounded because, as you said, that would be hilarious and almost worth it. Also, you could easily find enough people that would donate a small amount of money to reclaim your vehicle from the impound lot.

I think he should fight it, as a power wheels car is clearly not a golf cart. CVC 345, in fact, defines it as “designed to carry golf equipment”. If Talukder can show this requirement was not met (just bring some pictures to the judge), his cite under CVC 21716 should be thrown out.

And seriously… what does the university police hope to accomplish by pursuing this? Their public image and reputation among students would be far better served encouraging, rather than harassing, alternative modes of transportation.
