Three Thai artists were invited to Cal Poly as part of an artist exchange with Bangkok.

College students are busy by nature and any student with extracurricular activities finds themselves busier than others. Cal Poly's athletes are definitely no exception. Each athlete practices for hours everyday with the team and does even more practice on their own in addition to attending classes and doing homework like all students. With football and men's soccer playing rival teams and women''s tennis about to host the Cal Poly Invitational Tournament, these athletes are some of the busiest of the season.

Cal Poly's Health Center open began to vaccinate students for the H1N1 virus for the first time today. Students lined up for hours in order to receive one of the 3,500 vaccinations available.

Associated Students Inc. hosted a haunted house and had more than 700 students show up to go through the maze.

The ninth Central Coast Book and Author Festival returned Sunday, Oct. 4th to Mission Plaza after a year off. The festival, run by the Foundation of San Luis Obispo County Public Libraries, raised money for their summer reading program and brought a wide variety of authors to San Luis Obispo.Despite being absent last year, the festival was busy with activity and attempts to keep the gale-force winds from knocking over booths. Many families came out to see Spider-man, who did two performances and photograph sessions for a line of kids that stretched half way across the plaza's walkway.

Thirteen hundred people participated in the 30th annual San Luis Obispo Triathlon July 26, 2009. Racers range from beginning athletes to seasoned competitors. The triathlon encourages participants and volunteers to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle and to achieve new goals.

The Cal Poly Organic Farm is an on-campus, student run farm, which produces an array of organic vegetables daily. The farm gives a lot back to the community, providing students with a hands on experience, selling boxes of fresh produce to community members, and donating produce to local homeless shelters and food banks.

Congresswoman Lois Capps came to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Thursday, July 2 to talk about the importance of funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and research opportunities.

Rise and Run is the 2009 edition of the annual show of fifth year architecture student work at Cal Poly. The show is an exhibition and celebration of year long thesis projects completed by architecture students as the culmination of their undergraduate studies.

Following a power outage that shut down Cal Poly's water pumps Wednesday, May 20, officials found a dead rat and a dead mouse in the water reservoir near the Cal Poly "P". As a precaution, they partially shut down the pumps and disinfected the water.

The Cal Poly baseball team hosted Pepperdine for a midweek game on May 12, 2009.

The Cal Poly baseball team played Cal State Fullerton in a three game series. The Mustangs dropped the first two before winning the final game by a score of 7-4.

ASI announced the next student body president, and many other activites were taking place.

The Cal Poly baseball team took two of three from USF over the weekend. The Mustangs scored five in the eighth inning to win on Sunday, 7-4.

ASI President Debate on Thursday April 30, 2009. The winners were announced the following week after two days of voting. Art and design senior Kelly Griggs will be the next ASI president.

Cal Poly hosted the defending champion Fresno State Bulldongs for a midweek matchup.

ASI candidates had 5 minutes on the mike in the University Union to present their platform to the student body.

The Cal Poly Football team held its annual spring game on April 25, 2009. The defense won by one point, 29-28, on a last second stop on downs.

The Cal Poly Pride Center relocated to room 209 in the University Union.

On April 16th, several local bands and Kimya Dawson of The Moldy Peaches gave an acousit concert in Mitchell Park.

Cal Poly's womens tennis team concluded their home schedule on Thursday, April 9, with a match against Oregon.

Drugs, originality, fear and politics were just a few of the topics covered by Slam Poet Ike Torres when he came to Cal Poly Wednesday night April 1.Torres, a two-time member of the Sacramento Slam Team and the champion of the Sacramento Grand Slam in 2006, entertained students at the Chumash Auditorium during Another Type of Groove.

Cal Poly's football team holds its first practice

ASI President Angela Kramer and Cal Poly President Warren Baker held an open forum to answer questions about a possible College Based Fee increase.

Though it never left the ground, a helicopter donated by the engineering firm Northrop Grumman caused a bit of a spectacle on campus yesterday. About 100 engineering students and faculty came to the engineering plaza to see the unveiling of the $200,000 piece of equipment.
