The journalism department has been through three department heads in the past 10 years and previous department chair Bill Loving joined the list when he was asked to step down by College of Liberal Arts dean Linda Halisky last week. The Hawaiian-bred, rock-reggae trio Pepper will be playing at the California Midstate Fair in Paso Robles this Friday. The band will play on the Grandstand as a special guest to another rock-reggae outfit, headliner band 311. The punk rock band The Offspring is also joining them on stage.

Former Cal Poly football player passes away

Ernie Cooper, who played on the Cal Poly football team from 2005-08, died Thursday at his home in Huntington Beach, Calif.
